Overview
Energy-recovery dampers not only reduce vibration for a moving vehicle but also recover thermal energy that conventional dampers dissipate. They therefore represent a likely direction for future damper development. Considering current development bottlenecks for new energy vehicles, such as limited driving range and challenges in energy recovery, using energy-recovery dampers can reclaim substantial energy and convert it to electrical energy for the vehicle traction battery. In the current context of relatively limited energy resources in China, applying energy-recovery dampers can produce significant economic benefits, making a modular design approach necessary.
