Overview

On July 27, Xiaomi introduced two new Xiaomi Notebook Air models, in 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch sizes. The series aims to combine thin-and-light design with higher performance options. Highlights mentioned at the launch include an ultra-narrow bezel, a smaller footprint compared with the MacBook Air, borderless protective glass, support for an additional internal drive and a discrete GPU, and 1C fast charging. Xiaomi states the chassis thickness is thinner than a one-cent coin.

Design and Features

The 13.3-inch model uses an all-metal body with an anti-glare 1080p display and full lamination to reduce glare. The chassis is reported to be 14.8 mm at its thickest point, with a 5.59 mm narrow bezel and 80.1% screen-to-body ratio. The borderless protective glass has a reported Mohs hardness up to 7H.

There is no visible Xiaomi logo on the surface. The product is offered with decorative stickers featuring works by artists such as Van Gogh and Monet, produced in collaboration with the Artand platform. Custom laser engraving and accessories are available through Xiaomi retail stores.

Internal configuration for the higher-end model includes a 6th-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor with up to 2.7 GHz turbo frequency, 8 GB LPDDR4 memory, a 256 GB PCIe SSD, and an expandable slot for a second drive. The discrete GPU is an NVIDIA GTX 940MX with 1 GB GDDR5.

Battery supports 1C fast charging, with the vendor's claim of reaching 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes. Audio is handled by AKG-tuned dual speakers with Dolby surround support.

Windows 10 Home ships with Xiaomi Sync, which integrates contacts, messages, cloud photos, and notes, and supports Mi Band passwordless unlock. Additional integrations are planned.
