Manufacturing Summary

This production record covers a 6-layer flexible PCB panel configuration with an overall thickness of just 0.23 mm. Manufactured in a quantity of five, each panel measures 490 by 36 mm and utilizes rolled copper foil at 1 oz weight. The 3/3 mil trace spacing and 0.1 mm drill size represent a challenging geometry for flexible substrates, which we addressed through careful inner layer imaging and etching processes.

 

Polyimide material handling formed a critical part of preparation to prevent wrinkling or distortion in the thin layers. Following precise layer stack alignment and high pressure lamination, coverlay application provided the necessary protection without compromising bend characteristics. Immersion gold ENIG plating was then selectively deposited to ensure reliable surface conductivity on the exposed copper.

 

To validate performance, we conducted dynamic flex testing alongside standard electrical tests on the completed panels. The entire sequence resulted in fully functional boards that met all dimensional and electrical requirements for this specialized flexible application.
