Production of these five 4-layer rigid-flex PCBs centered on their distinctive elongated profile of 320 x 14.5 mm and reduced thickness of 0.8 mm. Built with 1 oz copper and standard 6/6 mil minimum track and spacing, the boards incorporated green soldermask and white silkscreen. Immersion gold ENIG was selected as the surface finish to provide reliable contact surfaces for this flex-rigid configuration.

 

Manufacturing steps included precise inner layer imaging followed by flex-rigid lamination to securely bond the rigid and flexible sections. Controlled depth routing ensured clean definition of the bend areas. Dynamic flex reliability testing formed a critical part of the validation, confirming the boards could withstand repeated flexing without compromising electrical performance.

 

Over the 16.3-day production period, each unit completed full electrical testing with positive results. This approach delivered consistent quality for the small batch, addressing the specific demands of the thin rigid-flex design and ENIG plating requirements.
